Vinyl vs. Aluminum: Choosing the Right Window Frame

Vinyl frames are made from unplasticized polyvinyl chloride — a strong, non-corrosive material that provides natural insulation. It's generally the better choice for energy efficiency.

Aluminum frames are made from extruded aluminum, which is structurally very strong. That strength allows for slimmer, more modern profiles with larger glass area — a common choice for contemporary homes that want more visible glass and less visible frame.

Neither option is universally 'better' — it depends on your priorities. If energy efficiency is the top concern, vinyl usually wins. If you want a slim, modern sightline, aluminum is worth the tradeoff.
